Okay so someone who drove by my house a week ago and then drove by my house today may say "hmmmm, I wonder why the Jolley's took their Halloween decorations down". Well I'll tell you why... we had the fake spider webs hanging over our stucco with the fake spiders in them... our kids thought this was great. One night I was coming home with the babysitter and as we walked in the front door, I noticed one of the spiders had fallen out of the web. As I casually bent down to pick up the spider IT MOVED. Okay so seriously, this spider was as BIG as the fake spiders. When my babysitter and I were done screaming, I took a better look, and guess what I noticed?... BLACK WIDOW. I thought I was going to throw up! I literally bent down to pick up the stupid thing and was inches away when it moved... INCHES! Anyway, I screamed for Jon to come save us and he got our handy dandy bug spray and killed the unwanted guest. It took me a couple of days but I recovered. A couple of days after my recovery I was taking the garbage out when I noticed movement in my fake spider web... can you believe that another huge spider was living among the fake spiders... I (again, trying not to freak out) took a closer look... ANOTHER BLACK WIDOW. I ran into the garage and used every last ounce of our bug spray to kill this spider... I called Jon, who was at work, and yelled at him (you know, these things are always their fault), I told him that he had to spray the entire house before I would let him in that night! And without thinking, I yanked the fake web (with all the fake and maybe real spiders) down. My kids weren't so happy about it... but can you blame me?

Don't let my wife fool any of you with this post. She is very brave with spiders. She's only passed out 2 or 3 times when coming close to spiders. And she almost never curls into the fetal position in the corner of room anymore.
ReplyDeleteHOLY FREAKIN CRAP! I just have never understood how the big man upstairs could have created spiders, and loved me unconditionally at the same time. I am so sorry you have had to deal with that.
ReplyDeleteHoly Freakin Crap here too. I HATE spiders--once I called my uncle who lived down the street from me to come kill one. I agree with Tracie--why must they exist anyway?
ReplyDeleteEw Yucky!! Thats creepy! It gives me the heebie jeebies!! hehe.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it was a friend of Aragog's (he he) I just wanted to thank you for giving me one more fear, now not only do I fear real spider webs, but fake ones as well. Last year for practice I was getting our balls out of the shed when I noticed that a mama black widdow was making her home among my balls...I think we had a base running practice. I love you tice, you are cute! Mailing bows today, remember, this is just the first shipment, decide what other colors you need and I will get them for you. They are fun to make so dont worry!
ReplyDeleteGoose bumps!!! I really had goose bumps because I'm freaked out for you!
ReplyDeleteWe have had a contract with Preventive Pest Control this past year and they come and spray every couple of months which helps keep my bug fears in check!
Oh my goodness...That is freaky! Good call on taking down the decorations!
ReplyDeleteFYI to you kiddo...98 degrees is lame! I REALLY like freezing my bum off and having my buggers freeze inside my nose making a crust that I cant breath through. I love it. Anyway, dont worry about all that junk of shipping, I like you too much. Just think of it as Ron's money, neither one of us are out anything!
ReplyDeleteha ha ha! I don't mean to laugh but this was funny to me. Don't get me wrong, I hate spiders too. They're just creepy! I just remember how you get when you are freaked out and I could just imagine you. I'm sure you were a sight! :) I'm sure you got your house sprayed.
ReplyDeleteFreaky Tice! My boys would love it though. "Did you find a spider mom? Can I have it?"
ReplyDeleteTice, I just tagged you on my blog--check it out!
ReplyDeleteGotta love the desert!
ReplyDeleteHi Tice! How are you? I can't believe the spider story. I would have started to cry. It looks like you're doing great! I'm going to add you to my list of friends so I can check up on you and your cute fam!
ReplyDeleteYes, I think you had very good reason to take down the decorations, so scary.
ReplyDeleteSo I clicked on the pic of the spider and it blew up and the whole computer was the spider and i peed a little!
